Earthquake Preparedness
My mom and I have done numerous things to prepare for an earthquake. We have made an emergency kit filled with things we would need incase a big quake hit. Some of these things would include food you can easily prepare along with a can opener, clothing, rubbing alcohol, bandages, flashlights, batteries, trash bags, water, and more. We would keep all these necessities in a big backpack. The backpack would be kept inside the closet in the living room, closest to the exit, which would be the front door. In case of an earthquake we would also think about our three dogs, Rocky, Gizmo, and Cisco. We would keep them safe as well. We have leashes, portable water bowls, and some food for them along with our things in the backpack. We wouldn’t just leave them at home alone; they too, are members of the family. When earthquakes occur, my mom and I go to the door frame and stand under it. If a major one were to hit we would know to go to the closet and grab our emergency kit backpack we had put together. My mom tends to panic a lot when earthquakes hit so I would take the initiative and be the strong and brave one. It would be bad to both be “panicky” and nervous wrecks. Hopefully I have explained my plan well enough, next time an earthquake hits, my mom and I will be prepared thanks to this project I can use in the real world.
